Richmond Power and Light (RP&L) is a municipally owned electric utility governed by Indiana Code 8-1.5 et. seq.
RP&L is governed by a 9-member utility service board, elected by the citizens of Richmond. The board serves 4-year terms. The current term for all board members is 2024-2027.

The Richmond Common Council and Richmond Power & Light Board will meet the 1st
and 3rd Monday of each month during 2025 with the following exceptions:
- January 21 – in lieu of January 20 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- February 18- in lieu of February 17 – President’s Day
- June 20 – in lieu of June 19 – Juneteenth
- September 2 – in lieu of September 1- Labor Day
RP&L Board meetings are held the FIRST Monday of each month immediately following
the meeting of Common Council with the following exception:
- September 2 – in lieu of September 1- Labor Day
The changes are due to holidays and the meetings for all exceptions are the Tuesday immediately following the regularly scheduled meeting.
All meetings are held in the Council Chambers on the third floor of the Municipal
Building at 50 North 5th Street.
